Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the procedure?
Depending on the number of grafts, the procedure could take one or two days. Sessions involving <2700 grafts, usually get completed within a day. Two days are needed for grafts over 2700. The duration per session is approximately 8-10 hours.
Who performs the procedure?
Dr. Beyhan Zeybek will perform all steps from extraction to preparation of the recipient sites, unlike other practices where these are usually done by technicians in order to cut back on costs. You can get more information on Dr. Beyhan here.
Can I wear a hat after?
We will provide you with a hat that is slightly loose around your head to wear after your procedure.
Do I need to come in for a control session?
Yes, you will need to come in for a next-day check up following the procedure. In the future, if you have any follow-up questions or would like to share your progress with the doctor, you can reach us via email or WhatsApp.
Can I board a flight the next day?
Yes, you can travel after your next-day check up following the procedure. The doctor would like to see how the hair is doing and will give you your first hair wash. You will also be given instructions on how to take care of your hair yourself while in recovery.
What will my scars look like?
The scars on your head will be visible for the first few weeks as you will need to get a short haircut prior to your procedure. The scabs are expected to disappear in 2 weeks, however you should expect minor redness for longer especially if you have light/pale skin.
Do I need to use any medication?
Yes, you will be prescribed antibiotics for the first 5 days following your procedure. You will also apply a topical cream regularly for 2 weeks.
When is the earliest I can go to a hairdresser/barber?
You can get a haircut after 2 weeks. We recommend against getting your hair dyed for at least a month after your procedure.
Can I undergo this procedure during the summer?
Yes. Always make sure to wear a hat in sunny weather to prevent scarring. We recommend against swimming for the first 2 weeks (no pools or open water).
Is there a risk of losing transplanted hair?
The short answer is no, as long as the units are extracted from the safe donor zone on the back of your head because transplanted follicles are resistant against baldness. However hair loses density and/or thickness with age (70-80s) that could also effect the transplanted hair.
Can I come back for a second procedure?
Desired results sometimes can only be achieved through multiple procedures because the donor area allows only a certain amount of extractions in one session. A year after your first procedure, you can contact us if you would like to discuss your options.
